PRESS RELEASE 5 OCTOBER 2015

STATEMENT WARNING RE JFSC TELEPHONE SCAMMERS

The Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) has today issued a warning to advise local residents of a series of calls from individuals claiming to be carrying out a banking survey on behalf of the JFSC.

The JFSC can confirm that it is not conducting any telephone survey calls and would never cold call or ask people about their banking information.

John Harris, Director-General, offered the following advice:

“We take very seriously anyone falsely purporting to be from the Jersey Financial Services Commission. Unfortunately fraudsters are relentless and will work tirelessly to find new ways to convince people to part with their information and money. I urge people to be vigilant and confirm that the Commission is not conducting any telephone surveys for local residents or businesses.”

If you think you have received one of these calls, please do not hesitate to contact the States of Jersey Police on 612612.
