Today, the Jersey Financial Services Commission (the “Commission”) placed a new consumer education article on the Commission’s Protect Your Money - - website.  The article titled “Investment Planning – Where to begin!” takes the form of an interview between John Cronin, CFA, and Francis Katamba.

The interview takes the reader through several steps of the investment planning process.  Topics covered include setting risk and return objectives, and the impact of liquidity needs and time horizon on how much risk an investor is able to take and, consequently, the level of return they should seek to achieve.

John Harris, the Director General of the Commission, remarked that:

“This article is aimed at helping Jersey residents to make better investment decisions.  As one of an occasional series, the article provides a useful checklist that investors should consider before they invest, whether they manage their own investments or use the services of a financial adviser.”
